01

Make health information clear

Help someone understand a health message and decide what question to ask next.

Try a five-minute activity

Choose a health message you have seen. Rewrite it in plain language for someone outside your profession, then ask them what they understood.

  • Who is this message for?
  • Which words need a simpler explanation?
  • What useful next step can the reader take?

02

Check before you share

Pause when a health claim feels urgent, dramatic or too certain.

Try a five-minute activity

Find the original author, date and supporting source for a claim before forwarding it. If you cannot verify it, say so rather than presenting it as a fact.

  • Can you find the original source?
  • Is it current and relevant to your setting?
  • What is known, and what is still uncertain?

03

Communicate in a health emergency

Organize a message around what people know, what they can do and where updates will come from.

Try a five-minute activity

Draft a short update for a hypothetical community event. State the verified situation, one practical action and the next official update point.

  • What has been verified?
  • What should people do now?
  • Who will provide the next update?

04

Start learning first aid

Explore trusted first aid education and prepare to practise skills with an instructor.

Try a five-minute activity

Identify a recognized first aid training provider near you. Check the course format, hands-on practice and how skills are assessed.

  • Is the training from a recognized provider?
  • Does it include supervised practice?
  • How will you keep your skills current?
