A safer first response starts with checking for danger, calling local emergency help and giving care within your training.

If it is safe to approach, ask for consent where possible, check the person’s condition and direct someone to call for help and bring equipment. Tell the responder where you are, what happened and what help is needed. Use the emergency number for the place where you are.
Give care that matches your training and the person’s condition while professional help is on the way. Reading a sequence is not a substitute for supervised first aid, CPR or AED practice. Seek hands-on training and follow the dispatcher or emergency team.
